In 1972, when the Yugoslav State Security Service conducted a search of Tuđman’s apartment, a record of up to 200 pages was made with the material seized. Various books, newspapers, scientific journals, and all of Tuđman’s manuscripts were among them. Among the seized items, attention is drawn to a list written in Tuđman’s handwriting, containing the names of all those to whom Tuđman sent New Year’s congratulations for the new year of 1968, and they did not reciprocate. The police apparently thought it was some encrypted list of secret collaborators, but it seems Tuđman was simply very hurt by the unreturned congratulations.
